Annual Mariang Pilgrimage of Chittagong Diocese is held in Diang on 11-12 February this year with main theme ‘Mary: Our help of God’s mercy’. It was the 40th Pilgrimage in Diang. Moriom Parish is situated in a hilly area named Diang in the territory of Chittgaong diocese where every year thousands of pilgrims come to visit the sacred land and offer their prayers to ‘Mother Mary’.
The pilgrimage started on 11th February with an Eucharistic celebration at 4.30 pm offered by Most Rev. Lawrence Subrato Howlader, CSC who is the newly installed Bishop of ‘Barisal Catholic Diocese’. Theme for the mass was ‘Mercy in the family’. In the evening at 8.30 adoration of the blessed sacrament took place followed by an amazing and devotional candle light procession. In the midnight some video clips were shown based on the life of Servant of God Bro. Flavian Laplante, CSC. A drama on the same theme was also staged by a group of Children & Youth from Chittagong Cathedral.
In the following day at 9.30 am the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration was offered by the Bishop of Chittagong Most Rev Moses M. Costa, CSC along with Most Rev. Lawrence Subrato Howlader, CSC and other Priests. He said that Man needs the mercy of God the most. This Miriam Pilgrimage is a festival to be reunited with God and also a tough pursuit of being merciful. Virgin Mary is the mother of mercy. We should show mercy with joy in heart. This year roughly seven thousand (7,000) pilgrims attended the pilgrimage.
