Chittagong Archdiocese was blessed with the visit of two cardinals on 29 July 2019. Archbishop of Manila, Philippines Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle who is also the president of Caritas International and Archbishop of Yangon, Myanmar Cardinal Charles Maung Bo who is also the president of FABC (Federation of Asian Bishop’s Conference) have visited the Archbishop’s house of Chittagong Archdiocese and celebrated mass in the Cathedral of our Lady of Holy Rosary. It was a historical event as Chittagong have never been visited by two cardinals together.
The cardinals reached Chittagong Archbishop’s House accompanied by our Archbishop Moses M. Costa, csc; the bishop of Rajshahi Most Rev. Gervas Rozario, 1st secretary to the Apostolic Nuncio to Bangladesh Msgr. Alvaro Izurieta, Executive Director of Caritas Bangladesh Mr. Atul Palma and Regional Director of Caritas Mr. James Gomes. They previously visited the Rohingya Camp in Cox’s Bazar where Caritas is doing excellent humanitarian work from the onset of Rohingya Crisis in Bangaldesh.
Cathedral church was full of people while the cardinals offered mass accompanied by Archbishop Moses M. Costa, csc; Bishop Gervas Rozario, Msgr. Alvaro Izurieta and many other priests of Chittagong Archdiocese. Cardinal Tagle in his enchanting homily said that Jesus considers us friends not slaves. We should also treat each other as friends and love one another.
The two cardinals left for Dhaka on the next morning.
