Pronoy Anthony Gomes, CSC, archdiocesan development coordinator Mr. Mickey Paul Gonsalves, secretary of Chattogram office Mr. Jude Flavian Bala, secretary of CHT office Mr. Khunthairoy Francis Tripura and team member Fr. Terence Rodrigues attended the meeting.
The meeting had an elaborate discussion on the original inspiration, team management, activities and present challenges of the pastoral service team and proposed some recommendation. It also discussed the present situation of the archdiocesan commissions & desks and the management of the FIAT pastoral centre. PST members had an elaborate discussion on the pastoral plans coping with the Covid 19 situation.
During the post-independence period of Bangladesh, the pastoral plan of the local Church was documented in 1985. The Chattogram Catholic archdiocese was deeply convinced by the plan. To implement the same, the main felt needed then was the formation of the laity, priest and religious. Fr. Patrick D’Rozario, CSC (now Cardinal) started to develop a team to serve these needs which have gradually named the ‘Pastoral Service Team’. The main task of this team was to organize formation programs (seminars, workshops, training, etc.) at the parish centres and also in scattered sub-centres and even in villages or paras. For decades, PST has been offering services within and outside the Archdiocese and became a legacy of the archdiocese.
