To commemorate the May Day, Chattogram archdiocesan desk for Migrants and Itinerant people under Justice and Peace Commission organized two programs respectively on 1 May 2022 and 13 May 2022 in the archdiocesan training centre and Shitolpur chapel.

54 and 76 migrant workers who are mainly involved in industrial and beauty parlour jobs participated respectively in the training centre and

Shitolpur chapel. The theme for reflection was set to ‘You are servants but your Lord is Christ.’ (Co 3:24b) Father Leonard C. Rebeiro was the keynote speaker of the program in the training centre who is the vicar general and is also the parish priest of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Chattogram.

Ms. Moury Paroy was the keynote speaker for the second program in Shitolpur chapel. She is the person in charge of the women’s desk under the diocesan Laity Commission and is also an assistant teacher in St. Mary’s School, Jamalkhan, Chattogram. Participants took part in elaborate discussions and sharings about their everyday challenges and struggles at their workplaces. The desk coordinator, Sr. Zita Rema SSMI facilitated icebreaking games and entertainment events as well to make the days memorable. At the program in Shitolpur, the assistant pastor of the Cathedral, Father Sajal Anthony Costa accompanied and sacrificed a Eucharist with the people in Shitolpur.
