‘Women evangelize family’ was the theme of a day long women workshop held in Caritas Chattogram regional training centre on 14th June 2019. Women desk of the archdiocesan laity commission organized the event in which 36 married women aged below 40 participated from all the parishes except Noakhali and Thanchi.
The vision of the workshop was ‘to inspire the participating women of different stages to become active missionary’. The workshop begun with an opening prayer conducted by Sr. Nisha Gagra, SMMI who is the P.S. to the archbishop of Chittagong. It is followed by the keynote speech on theme ‘Women as the missionary in family’. Archdiocesan pastoral coordinator Mr. Manik Willver D’Costa presented paper on the topic. A member of national women desk Mrs. Rebecca Quiah presented a speech on theme ‘Challenges of women in witnessing faith in everyday life’. Two participants Mrs. Babra Gomes and Mrs. Moury Paroy (in-charge of the diocesan women desk) participated in panel sharing respectively on topics ‘My role in witnessing faith in family’ and ‘My role in witnessing faith in workplace’.
Participants took part in open discussion and group workshop as well. There were three groups of women i) women having children under 15, ii) women having children aging 15 years or more, iii) working women. They reflected respectively on topics i) possibility and specific means of evangelizing the children, ii) possibility and specific means of witnessing Christ in family and iii) possibility and specific means of witnessing Christ in the workplace.
Director (finance & admin) of Chittagong archdiocese Rev. Fr. Pankaj Ignatius Pereira was the chief guest at the closing session. The workshop is closed by a solemn Eucharistic celebration administered by Fr. Pereira.
