Deacon Ordination of Rupok Issac Rozario at Holy Spirit Seminary

Dhaka, May 24, 2025 — In a solemn and spiritually uplifting ceremony, the Holy Spirit Major Seminary in Banani, Dhaka, celebrated the ordination of new  15 deacons on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The event marked a significant milestone in the journey of several seminarians toward priesthood and was attended by clergy, religious, family members, and faithful from various parts of the country.

We are very thankful to the Lord, this year The Chattogram Archdiocese also received in a joyful and prayerful atmosphere filled the chapel of Holy Spirit Major Seminary, Banani, Dhaka, as among those ordained were seminarian Rupok Issac Rozario from the Archdiocese of Chattogram, marking a proud and grace-filled moment for the faithful of the Archdiocese.

Most Rev. Bishop Gervas Rozario, Bishop of Rajshahi Diocese, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, with him there were co-celebrate, Archbishop Lawrence Subrato Howlader, Bishop Sebastian Tudu and Bishop Emmanuel K. Rozario.  The Rite of Ordination, accompanied by a large number of priests and seminarians. In his homily Bishop reminded of the sacred responsibility of the diaconate: to serve the Church through the Word, the altar, and acts of charity.  “You are called not to be served, but to serve — with humility, love, and deep faith in Christ,” he said, addressing the newly ordained deacons. “Let your lives be a reflection of Christ the Servant.” The ordination Mass was filled with rich liturgical traditions, including the prostration during the Litany of the Saints and the laying on of hands — a powerful moment symbolizing the transmission of spiritual authority.

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt congratulations, group photographs, and a reception where the families of the newly ordained deacons expressed joy and gratitude for the blessing of vocation in their lives. The newly ordained deacon from Chattogram Archdiocese will now begin his pastoral ministry in assigned parish where he will assist in the liturgy, preach the Gospel, and serve the needs of the local faithful through charitable and sacramental duties.

Archbishop Lawrence Subrata Howlader, CSC, of Chattogram Archdiocese, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and prayers for the new deacons, encouraging them to be faithful servants and witnesses of Christ’s love, especially to the poor and marginalized.The ceremony was followed by a thanksgiving reception attended by clergy, family members, and lay faithful, celebrating the gift of vocations in the life of the Church.The Archdiocese of Chattogram rejoices in the dedication of young man and continues to pray for their fruitful ministry as they prepare to serve more fully as future priests of the Church.
