Most Rev. Bejoy N. D’Cruze from the Congregation of Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) is named the Archbishop of Dhaka.
The announcement is made from the Vatican City at 12.00 pm (Vatican time) and Dhaka at 4.00 pm (Bangladesh time) today.
Most Rev. Bejoy N. D’Cruze, OMI was born on Feb. 9, 1956, at Puran Tuital, Dhaka. He was ordained a priest on February 20, 1987. He had served as the Bishop of Khulna from 2005 to 2011 and later was installed as the first Bishop of Sylhet on September 30, 2011. He has also been serving as the Secretary General of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh (CBCB) since 15 August 2020.
His Eminence, Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, CSC submitted his resignation to the Holy Father on completion of his two years extension as the Archbishop of Dhaka which is duly accepted by the Holy See.
