Chattogram, January 9, 2025 – In a solemn and auspicious ceremony, the foundation laying of a new church was held at Bahir Signal. The event was graced by His Grace Lawrence Subrato Howlader, CSC, Archbishop of Chattogram, who blessed and laid the foundation stone.
Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Mickey Paul Gonsalves, Development Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Sarkar, Diocesan Civil Engineer, and members of St. Theresa The Little Flower Ward, a small Christian community under Our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral Parish. The ward is located in Bahir Signal, adjacent to the Railgate.
Following the foundation-laying, the Archbishop presided over a Holy Mass, attended by the faithful, marking the beginning of this significant project.
The construction of the church poses unique challenges due to its location beside the railway line, where no four-wheeled vehicles have access. Despite these logistical difficulties, the community remains committed to ensuring the successful completion of this sacred endeavor.
The new church at Bahir Signal is expected to serve as a spiritual and communal hub for the Christian faithful, fostering unity and faith in the region.
