Inter-religious prayer & celebration program has been held with proper respect and love to commemorate the Canonization of Mother Teresa. Chittagong Diocesan Inter-Religious Dialogue Commission has organized this program on 30 September 2016. The program was held in the Jamalkhan Saint Mary’s School Auditorium at 5.30 pm. Bishop of Chittagong Catholic Diocese Rev. Moses Costa, csc was present in this ceremony of gratitude along with the former city mayor Alhaj Md. Manjur Alam; Dr. Tapan Kumar Das; Vice Chancellor of USTC, Chittagong- Dr. Provat Chandra Barua; Sister Agnes from Mother Teresa Community; Headmaster, Teachers and Managing Comity Personnel from every Missionary schools in Chittagong; Directors from different development organizations; word councilor and other peoples from the locality.
6 sisters and 10 patients from the health centre run by MC Sisters were greeted with flowers in the ceremony. The present guests shared on the inspiration of Mother Teresa in their personal life. Former Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and a renowned social worker Alhaj Md. Manjur Alam said that, ‘Mother Teresa is in our hearts though she is deceased a long ago because of her works.’ Other guests said, ‘Mother Teresa spent her whole life in the service of humanity. She worked for the helpless, needy, violated and poor people throughout her whole life. This inter-religious gathering is a very good initiative in order to spread the great news of the canonization of Mother Teresa.’
In the ceremony there were also meditative dance, songs and a documentary on Mother Teresa’s work and life. The ceremony came to end with a speech from the vicar general of Chittagong Diocese- Fr. Gordon Dias.
