Chairman candidate Shantiha Tripura (age 35, Christian) is shot dead in Bandarban on Monday, 21st March 2016. He is kidnapped from his own village Ramdupara yesterday early morning and shot dead in the jungle of Adiga Para. The rogues also fired his house. Officer In-charge of Ruma Thana Mr. Shorifur Rahman rescued the dead body yesterday afternoon with the collaboration of local people and sent for autopsy in district sadar hospital. A murder case is filed in the same Police Thana. People of the area state that Shantiha Tripura just started campaign for upcoming union parishad election as an independent candidate for the post of Chairman.
On the same day Shantiha Tripura was supposed to collect his nomination form from the sub-district headquarter. He also contested in the last term but lost the poll. Police Super Md. Mizanur Rahman says that police is investigating to bring out the real motive of the murder.
