Chattogram Archdioces has 23 catechists and 176 prayer leaders in 251 villages of 7 parishes and 1 quasi parish. They have been playing a very important role in the faith formation of the people of God, especially in Chattogram Hill Tracts where the Catholics are scattered in a vast and remote area and priests cannot take care of the people alone. But most of them lack sufficient knowledge, formation and training on the basic catechism of the Catholic Church.

To address the challenge, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Service Team started last year a series of Crash Training for them which took place in almost all the parishes mentioned above. This year the training was held on 14-17 March,  21-24 March, 28-31 March, and 22-22 June 2022 respectively in Khagrachori, Bandarban, Thanchi, and Bolipara parishes. A total of 172 catechists and prayer leaders participated in the programs.
