Brother Jarlath D’Souza, CSC is buried in the cemetery of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cathedral, Chittagong after the memorial service and funeral mass at 3.00 pm yesterday, 9th May 2016.
In the memorial service, senior Holy Cross Brother Lawrence Dias, Brother Sylvester Mridha, Bro. Ripon J. Gomes and on be-half of OPA (Old Placidians’ Association) Mr. Ronald Gomes shared
personal reflection on relationship with late Bro. Jarlath D’Souza. The memorial service is followed by the funeral mass in which Bishop of Chittagong Most Rev. Moses Costa, CSC was the main celebrant along with 8 other priests working in Chittagong diocese. Provincial superior of St. Joseph’s Province of Holy Cross Brothers in Bangladesh, Rev. Bro. Herald Bijoy Rodrigues was also present in the funeral mass. The memorial
service and funeral mass are attended by numerous Holy Cross brothers, sisters of different congregations, laity and even people of other faiths. After the mass, body of Brother Jarlath is buried in the Cathedral cemetery, Chittagong.
Late Bro. Jarlath D’Souza, CSC is born on 6th
June 1930 in Chittagong. But he originates from Goa, India from a Portuguese Catholic family. Bro. Jarlath served in St. Placid’s School as the headmaster from 1965 to 1976. He breathed his last on 8th June 2016 at 4.30 pm at Square Hospital, Dhaka at the age of 86. May the good Lord grant him eternal peace.
