Holy Cross Religious Brother and former headmaster of Saint Placid’s School, Chittagong; a well known face, friends of many in Chittagong, in all over the country and in abroad, breathed his last at 4.30 pm today in Square Hospital, Dhaka. RIP.
A mass is going to take place in the provincial house of Holy Cross Brothers, Mohammadpur, Dhaka at 8.30 pm. Then his body will be shifted in Chittagong Saint Placid’s School and College. Ex and present students, teachers and well wishers will be able to pay homage to him in the morning, 9th May 2016. The funeral mass will take place in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cathedral Church, Chittagong. Bishop of Chittagong Diocese Most Rev. Moses Costa, CSC will preside over the funeral right.
Parents of Brother Jarlath are from Goa, India, who were originally Portuguese Catholic. Brother Jarlath’s father Came in Chittagong as a Junior Officer of railway. Brother is born in Chittagong on 6th June 1930. He is received in Holy Cross Brotherhood on 15th August 1947, made his first vows on 2nd February 1949 and final vows on 2nd February 1953.
Brother Jarlath D’Souza is the one of the founders of Inter-Religious Council for Peace and Justice (BICPAJ). He served BICPAJ as secretary for many years.
