The Chattogram Archdiocesan Youth Day 2026 was held from May 26 to 30, 2026, in Bandarban under the theme, “You also are my witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning” (John 15:27). Organized by the Youth Commission of the Chattogram Catholic Archdiocese, the five-day event brought together 118 young men and women from 11 parishes and 2 quasi-parishes of the archdiocese. Through prayer, spiritual formation, educational sessions, cultural performances, and the sharing of experiences, participants were given an opportunity to renew and deepen their faith.
The Youth Day officially commenced on May 26 with the installation of the Youth Cross and an inaugural Holy Mass celebrated by Most Rev. Archbishop Lawrence Subrata Howladar, CSC, Archbishop of Chattogram. Among those present were Fr. Bikash Ribeiro, CSC, national youth coordinator; coordinators of the Chattogram Youth Commission and other distinguished guests. The event was formally inaugurated by Mr. Micky Paul Gonsalves, Head of Programs and Development of the Chattogram Catholic Archdiocese, through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
The first day also featured the unveiling of the inaugural issue of Nobodhara, the official Youth Day T-shirt, and the announcement of the winners of the logo competition organized in preparation for the Centenary Jubilee of the Chattogram Diocese. An interactive introduction session among participants created a joyful and welcoming atmosphere.
On May 27, the day began with the celebration of the Holy Mass. Fr. Bikash Ribeiro, CSC, delivered a keynote presentation based on the Youth Day theme. This was followed by a special session reflecting on the hundred-year journey of the Chattogram Catholic Archdiocese and its vision for the future. During a panel discussion, participants shared their views on the current realities, opportunities, and challenges of the Archdiocese, as well as the role of young people in shaping its future.
Later in the day, discussions focused on the spiritual lives of young people and the importance of responding to God’s call. One of the most inspiring sessions explored “Mother Mary, the Power of the Rosary in the Catholic Faith, and the Responsibilities of Youth within the Family,” leaving a profound impact on the participants.
On May 28, participants visited various villages and local communities in Bandarban, gaining firsthand experience of local culture, lifestyles, and social realities. The afternoon was dedicated to experience-sharing and participatory activities. In the evening, the Adoration of the Holy Cross brought everyone together in an atmosphere of prayer, reflection, and contemplation.
The fourth day, May 29, focused on learning, worship, and creativity. The morning featured training sessions on creative prayer and liturgical worship. A panel discussion titled “Let the Sky Be Your Limit” encouraged vibrant conversations on dreams, leadership, and future aspirations. In the afternoon, participants engaged in Bible study, allowing them to reflect on their lives in the light of God’s Word.
The formal activities concluded with a closing Holy Mass and a closing ceremony. Later that evening, a cultural program showcased the talents, creativity, and diversity of the young participants, adding a joyful and memorable dimension to the gathering.
The Youth Day came to an end on May 30 with the celebration of the Holy Mass. Over the course of five days, the event strengthened the participants’ faith, leadership skills, sense of responsibility, and commitment to the Church. Through prayer, learning, fellowship, and community engagement, the gathering inspired young people to become living witnesses of Christ within their families, parishes, and society.
More than simply an event, Chattogram Archdiocesan Youth Day 2026 was a unique journey of spiritual renewal, unity, and leadership formation—empowering a new generation of young Catholics to carry forward the mission of the Church with faith, hope, and dedication.
