“I am so glad that I have received such an opportunity to participate in the debate competition organized by Caritas Formation of Youth and Teachers’ Program (FYTP). I have acquired courage and inspiration to speak on logic in front of the auditorium full of teachers and students.” said Kornojoy Tripura (14), a student of grade IX of Don Bosco High School, Bandarban.
Inter School Debate Competition is held from 5th to 10th March 2016 in the school which was co-financed by FYTP of Caritas. There were 8 debating events for the students in which 15 boys and 15 girls participated from grade VI to X.
Headmaster of the school, Holy Cross Brother Sylvester Mridha, CSC said, “A few of the students are interested to participate in the debate competition. Besides participants face challenge to speak with the logic. Very often it is not easy for them to get reference books as the Bandarban city is situated in Chittagong Hill Tracts, hence modern library and internet facilities are not available here like city areas.”
“Students participating in debate competition receiving ongoing formation on speaking with courage and self confidence.” the Brother added. He urged to FYTP to continue supporting such type of extra curricular activities in the rural schools.
