Chattogram Archdiocese successfully organized the “Religion for Peace and Harmony” Christian Unity and Interfaith Dialogue Day with great enthusiasm and positivity. The event was held at the Fiat Pastoral Centre, Bandarban on 4th July 2025 and was organized by the Pastoral Service Team. Participants completed registration and were warmly welcomed with light refreshments. The atmosphere was cordial and friendly, fostering mutual respect, understanding, and lasting connections among attendees.

Mr. Emborse Gomez, Coordinator of the Christian Unity and Interfaith Dialogue Commission, Chattogram Archdiocese, delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the purpose and significance of the program. Professor Nurul Absar Chowdhury, Principal of Bandarban Government College, presented the main discussion from the Islamic perspective, emphasizing humanitarian values and the importance of empathy. From the Hindu perspective, Mr. Lalit Mohan Bhaumik, former Headmaster of Bandarban Police Line School, spoke on promoting mutual respect and understanding among students. Venerable Tikhindriya Mahather from Anathalay Ashram, Balaghata, shared insights from the Buddhist perspective, while Most Reverend Lawrence Subrata Howlader, CSC, Metropolitan Archbishop of Chattogram Archdiocese, presented the Christian perspective, inspiring participants about the necessity of interfaith harmony and peace.

During the open discussion session, participants freely exchanged ideas, gaining a deeper understanding of each other’s faiths, beliefs, and lifestyles. The dialogue encouraged them to actively promote empathy and cooperation, thereby fostering peace and harmony within society. The closing speech and vote of thanks were delivered by Fr. Suman Peter Costa, CSC, Director of the Fiat Pastoral Center.

The primary objective of the program was to encourage participation in mutual goodwill and cooperation through interfaith dialogue, increase knowledge about different religions and ways of life, and dispel misconceptions to strengthen respect and empathy. The event left a lasting positive impact on all participants, inspiring them to contribute to building a more harmonious and peaceful society.
