Fr. Terence Rodrigues is appointed to serve as the vicar general for the Chattogram Metropolitan Archdiocese. The Archbishop of Chattogram, His Grace, the Most Reverend Lawrence S. Howlader, CSC, made the announcement on Sunday, May 21, 2023, by an episcopal decree. The appointment is effective as of May 22, 2022.
In addition, the archbishop thanked the departing vicar-general, Fr. Leonard C. Rebeiro, for his service and dedication to the office. He was appointed vicar-general on May 22, 2020. Recently, he was transferred as a professor as well as a staff member to the Holy Spirit Major Seminary in Banani, Dhaka.
Father Terence Rodrigues is the second child of the late Lawrence and Dorothy Rodrigues. On November 3, 1967, he was born in Patherghata, Chattogram. In 1981, he enrolled at Shebokaloy Minor Seminary in Gournadi, Barishal, followed by Christo Shyakkho Griha Intermediate and Degree Seminary in Agoiljhara, Barishal. Fr. Rodrigues attended the Holy Spirit Major Seminary from 1989 to 1995, where he studied philosophy and theology and earned his B.Th. He attended the Licentiate Program in Pastoral Theology at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, from 2002 to 2004. In 2017, he attended a ‘Pastoral Leadership Management for Mission’ Diploma Course. He has served as the Rector of Shebokaloy Minor Seminary in Gournadi, Holy Rosary Intermediate Seminary in Chattogram, and Holy Rosary Intermediate Seminary in Padrishibpur, in that order. He has also served at various times as the Assistant Pastor of Padrishibpur Parish and the Pastor of Barishal, Gourdnadi, and Chattogram Cathedral Parishes. In addition, he has held the positions of Professor of Pastoral Theology and Assistant Spiritual Director at Holy Spirit Major Seminary in Banani, Dhaka. He is currently the pastor of St. Joseph’s Quasi Parish, Pahartoli, Chattogram.
