A whole-day seminar titled “Parents-Child Psychosocial Sharing” was successfully held at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Noakhali, bringing together more than around 100 faithful, including parents and children, for a day of learning, reflection, and family enrichment. Organized by the Chattogram Archdiocesan Commission for Laity in collaboration with Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Noakhali, the seminar sought to strengthen family relationships, improve communication between parents and children, and foster a deeper understanding of their respective roles within the family and the Church.

The program began with an opening prayer and welcome session, creating a warm and participatory atmosphere for the day. This was followed by an introductory session conducted by Mr. Mickey Paul Gonsalves, Head of Programs and Development of the Chattogram Archdiocese, who highlighted the importance of healthy parent-child relationships and the need for families to grow together in faith, understanding, and mutual respect. Following the introductory session, the participants were divided into two separate groups—parents and children—for focused workshop sessions tailored to their respective needs and experiences.

The parents’ workshop was facilitated by Fr. Pankaj Pereira, Parish Priest of Noakhali, who reflected on the theme “Raising Children in Love: The Call for Christian Parents,” based on Ephesians 6:4. In his presentation, Fr. Pereira emphasized the Christian vocation of parenthood and encouraged parents to nurture their children with love, patience, guidance, and faith. He highlighted the responsibility of parents to create a nurturing environment where children can grow spiritually, emotionally, and morally while experiencing the unconditional love of God through their families.

Meanwhile, the children’s workshop was led by Fr. Joy Joseph Quiah, Parish Priest of Noakhali and Youth Coordinator of the Chattogram Archdiocesan Youth Commission, who shared on the theme “Let Us Find Ourselves: I Am the Dear Child of God,” based on 1 John 3:1. Through interactive discussions and activities, Fr. Joy helped the children reflect on their identity as beloved children of God. He encouraged them to recognize their God-given dignity, develop self-confidence, and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ while appreciating the love and care they receive from their parents and family members.

The seminar also included group sharing, reflection sessions, and family bonding activities that allowed participants to engage with one another in meaningful ways. These activities provided opportunities for parents and children to listen to each other, share their experiences, and strengthen their emotional connections. Participants expressed their appreciation for the practical insights and spiritual guidance offered throughout the day. Many noted that the seminar helped them better understand the challenges and responsibilities of family life while providing valuable tools for improving communication and fostering stronger relationships within their homes.

The day concluded with a collective reflection and evaluation session, followed by a eucharistic. Participants returned home enriched by the experience and inspired to cultivate greater love, understanding, and faith within their families. The Chattogram Archdiocesan Commission for Laity reaffirmed its commitment to supporting families through similar formation and enrichment programs in the future, recognizing that strong families are the foundation of a vibrant Church and a healthy society.
