A wave of immense joy and spiritual celebration has swept through the Catholic community today, May 22, 2026, as nine brothers from five dioceses across Bangladesh were ordained as deacons. The solemn Ordination Mass was held at the Holy Spirit National Major Seminary in Banani, Dhaka, and was presided over by His Grace, Most Rev. Archbishop Subroto Lawrence Howlader, CSC.
Among the nine newly ordained deacons, the name of Deacon Francis Sadhumoni Tripura has created a historic ripple of pride, especially for the Chittagong Archdiocese and the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).
A Historic First for Balipara Parish
Deacon Francis Sadhumoni Tripura, a proud son of the Balipara Catholic Parish, has carved his name into history today as the very first person from this parish to be ordained as a deacon. This ordination marks the final step before his upcoming elevation to the holy priesthood. For the socio-geographically challenged and resilient communities of the Hill Tracts, seeing one of their own reach such spiritual heights is being hailed as a unique and blessed moment in the history of Balipara Parish.
Following the ceremony, deep gratitude was expressed for the infinite love, mercy, and blessings of Almighty God. Representatives from the Hill Tracts attending the event today shared that Deacon Francis’s achievement will serve as a powerful beacon of inspiration and hope for the youth in the hills, encouraging them to dedicate their lives to the service of God and humanity.
