“Catechist and Prayer Leader Training-2024” was organized at the Fiat Pastoral Centre in Bandarban from June 21 to June 27, 2024. This intensive training program brought together 41 catechists and prayer leaders from various parishes across the Chittagong Hill Tracks, including Bandarban, Thanchi, Bolipara, Alikadam, Khagrachori, and Lama.

The primary objective of the program was to provide participants with a foundational education on the 11 books of the Holy Bible, encouraging regular reading and effective preaching of biblical messages. This training marked the third session in a series aimed at deepening the participants’ understanding and engagement with the Holy Scriptures.

Mr. Manik Wilver D Costa, who led training on the books of ‘Ezra’, ‘Nehemiah’, ‘Tobit’, ‘Judith’, ‘Esther’, ‘Maccabees 1’, and ‘Maccabees 2’.

Fr. Patrick Shimon Gomes, a Biblical theologian and professor at the Holy Spirit Major Seminary, shared his expertise on the books of ‘Job’, ‘The Psalms’, ‘The Proverbs’, and ‘Ecclesiastes’, and provided an introduction to the Old Testament Wisdom books.

The training sessions also included group works and religious hymn classes facilitated by Sister Mamata Palma, LHC, Mr. Flevian D Costa, Mr. Jibon Tripura, and Mr. Francis Tripura. Their contributions were crucial for the smooth operation and interactive nature of the program.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to delve deeper into biblical texts and to enhance their skills in teaching and preaching. The training not only enriched their knowledge but also strengthened their commitment to their roles as catechists and prayer leaders within their communities.

The successful completion of this training session marks a significant step towards the ongoing spiritual development of religious leaders in the Chittagong Hill Tracks. The organizers look forward to continuing this journey of faith and learning in future training sessions.
