Catechists and Prayer Leaders’ Training Held in the Archdiocese of Chattogram

The “Catechists and Prayer Leaders’ Training 2026,” organized by the Catechetical and Biblical Commission of the Archdiocese of Chattogram, was held from 8 to 13 June 2026 at the Fiat Pastoral Centre in Bandarban. A total of 42 catechists and prayer leaders from 07 parishes (Chattogram Hill Tracks Region) of the Archdiocese participated in the training program.

The opening ceremony began with a welcome address delivered by Fr. Joy Joseph Quiah, Coordinator of the Catechetical and Biblical Commission of the Archdiocese of Chattogram. The inaugural address was given by Sr. Mamata Palma, LHC, Pastoral Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Chattogram.

During the six-day training program, participants received sessions on a variety of important topics. These included a presentation on the Profession of the Christian Faith by Fr. Joy Joseph Quiah; a session on the Seven Sacraments of the Church by Fr. Leonard Riberio, Parish Priest of Khagrachari Parish; a presentation on Practical Methods of Catechesis by Sr. Mamata Palma, LHC; a session on the Role of Prayer in the Life of the Faithful by Br. Albert Ratna, CSC; and a discussion on the Implementation of the Synodal Process by Mr. Micky Paul Gonsalves, Head of Programs and Development of the Archdiocese of Chattogram.

Through the training, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in catechetical ministry, prayer leadership, sacramental formation, and the practical implementation of the spirit of a Synodal Church.

At the closing ceremony, Br. Albert Ratna, CSC, delivered the concluding remarks. He encouraged the participants to make effective use of the knowledge and experience gained during the training and to play a more active role in serving the faithful within their respective parish communities.
